Straw Boater Hat

Hi All!

I have an interest in getting (eventually) a Straw Boater.

It seems like there are a number of them offered around, and I was wondering if anyone had any specifics to suggest.

Is there a specific brand or brands any one likes and are there any to stay away from?

Is there a preference to the style of ribbon on the hat?

I'd like to be more accurate to the USA in 1920's & 30's.

I recall seeing some where there was a size difference as to the width of the brim any suggestions on that?

Finally: it seems some a lighter or whiter than others is this a concern?

I saw this old post and noticed there were no replies. I'd like to see these questions answered myself. I bought a boater several years ago (can't remember the vendor). The one I have is rather stiff and the sweat band is a bit loosely connected to the hat. As this is the only boater I've ever owned, I really don't have anything to compare it to.

Any one ready to answer John's original set of questions?
