This “straw” hat was part of a large purchase I made at the end of last year. The hat is unbelievably lightweight! It’s made of “genuine Baku.” It’s very thin and feels delicate. The brim is 2 ⅝” wide. The sweatband is some sort of ribbon. It’s a US size 7 or 56cm.

Very cool find, Brent. Never seen one like it. A bit flashy weave maybe, but these baku hats weigh next to nothing, so ideal for summer wear.

Recent business profile of Borsalino hatmaking on youtube.

If it doesn't show up for some reason, just look for this text:

Borsalino bowler / derby. I like the color, but that’s about it. After handling it I was sure it was going to be a Bollman (USA) made hat, but it’s not. This is a disappointing hat and not worthy of the Borsalino name.

It's certainly an odd one, Brent. I wonder if Borsalino made it themselves or if it was outsourced and made by another manufacturer. The written label could be an indication of that. Both the felt and especially the brim curve don't display the usual borsalino quality.

That would make me feel better. The hat does not deserve to have the name Borsalino. The binding is also terrible and overlaps at the seam by half a centimeter or more. It’s already listed on eBay and I’m hoping the new owner won’t be disappointed.

Shame about that one, Brent. A grey Borslino Bowler would be something.

Any sign that the sweat is not original to the hat?
