It won the oscar for best foreign language film.

A period film about communism in the real 1984. The East German Secret police buggin & wiretapping its own citizens.
A drama wrapped in the politics that would eventually bring down the wall.

A good reminder of the importance or artistic expression & freedom of speech and Govt accountability.

 

[Doctor Strange]

I saw it at a film club screening a few months ago. A masterful film - very well done, fascinating, thought-provoking, riveting. It definitely deserved the best foreign language Oscar, despite how many other excellent films were in contention this year.
