I agree that the Hemingway jacket is expensive but it has served me better than my cabelas jacket. Ive had it for about a year. Now I just
need that hat.
Cabela's has magazine catalogs and an online catalog
You could just log on to thre website( not sure of the exact url)
If you dont know Cabelas is perhaps the most commercialized outfitter in the
US its also one of the best
it just so happens that a thread that was just started is about the Stetson
Catera from their gun club collection-does anyone thing that his hat might be
this model?
Don't know about the hat, but the Cabela's url is www.cabelas.com . They just opened a store not far from me, and for outdoor-nuts it'd be almost heaven--I was just checking out the gun counter and some tackle-boxes myself...
If you get the Akubra Riverina, it comes with a band that is very similar to Tembo's, except that it is two braided leather bands instead of one. Very similar in style anyway, but even if that's not close enough, a braided leather hat band will be easy to find. Check David Morgan's lineup, but there are many, many types of hat bands, and you could probably find one nearly identical, if you like.
Ha! Trying to pin down an Akubra color is very difficult! Fawn, Tawny Fawn, Regency Fawn, Taupe Fawn, Dark Fawn, Imperial Fawn, ....etc -and that's just the variations of ONE color!!!!
According to several references, the left side being turned up was introduced with the widespread issuance of rifles to the troops. The left side was where the rifle was to be carried and the brim would not be damaged this way. The right side was left down so the soldier's hand would touch the brim when saluting as per regulations.
Akubra's color 'Fawn' is the greenish-tan color that you see in the movie.
Trust me, I have two Riverinas in this very color (as do about a dozen others who have made a safari conversion).
