For $40 that's a great deal, for free it's ridiculous.

There are tons of hats up on the bay with real moth damage that people are listing in the $200 plus range (not sure they're getting it, but that's what they're listing for).

Definitely freeze it or whatever to make sure there's not more larvae, but you got yourself a killer hat. Enjoy it!

Very true, I’m definitely going to be a little more cautious in the future when it comes to condition though.

Very nice find. Appears to be later 1950s. Mallory was still making quality hats in this time period I think you will be very pleased

Received my 1st Mallory hat, already have a 2nd that I’m probably going to pull the trigger on. Very happy with it. I little bit of patina shows on it to add some character. I did cross post to the new hat section as well, hopefully that’s allowed, but I wanted to keep this in the dedicated Mallory thread as well.

Hahaha, I’m actually a 6 7/8, but figured I’d get some foam and make it work. I have to admit, I have had some nice finds at some decent prices. I’m fairly new to this and have a lot of catching up to do to some of the veterans on this site.

Thanks...it was apparently 'restored' at Optimo. It is essentially mint. I'm a big fan of the color, this reddish brown in certain light.
