Could it be willow green? It does not appear "pine." Hard to be exact with pics on different computers. The pine green hats I have posted a couple of pages back in this thread appear accurate (on my computer screen).

It is time to get a comprehensive list of felt colors offered in the Strat and Playboy. I need to get on it.

Lovely hat.

I found quite a few Playboy colors from 1947-1960 newspaper ads that I posted on a FB page we both frequent. I will post them in the Playboy thread.

FYI: Using Dave's posted advertisements (on Facebook yesterday) here is a list of colors (felt) that the Stetson Playboy was sold as:

Caribou, Willow, Quail, Arabian, Chestnut, Star Grey, Chocolate, Havana, Briar, Silver Belly, Sky Gray, Alpine, Grey, Flazen, Cork, Seal, Hemp, Bergreen, Star Blue, Nut gray, Sycamore, Flaxon, Hazel, almond and brownstone.

The advertisements were from 1947-late 50's. More effort will have to be done to check those advertisements before 47'.

I am not sure that the Stratoliners used similar felt naming schema. More to follow.

Eric, I have been looking at pre-1947 ads and so far they are not listing colors, but I am still working on it.

I finally acquired a real vintage Strat to go with my modern Strat and my not-really-Strats. While this one may not qualify as a grail hat, it checks a few boxes for me.

2 1/2” brim
5 1/4” crown (open)
The color is a blue steel kind of grey; the pictures don’t really show how much blue is there. It arrived with a center dent and no sign of any other crease. It took a teardrop bash easily with some steam.

My best estimate is early 60’s. I initially thought later than that, but the price tag and the store history indicate differently (I can’t find anything on Jessen’s Clothes Shop after 1962).

Pristine Royal Stetson Stratoliner. Was advertised as a much larger size than what arrived. The shipping cost was more than the price of the hat, so it isn't a big loss and my 9 year old daughter now has a new Strat

Sweet hat. Your daughter has a prized old stock thin ribbon fedora. Tell her to wear it proudly. I tip my brim in you direction tonight. Cheers, Eric -

Some steam and brushing is still needed, but I couldn’t wait to share this hat.

Like many, I’ve long enjoyed seeing the spectacular parade of hats shared by Eric @Short Balding Guy Wether vintage hats, new custom hats, or custom caps, Eric has some of the best hats/caps extant. As much as his hat collection I’ve also admired Eric’s kindness and ability to remain above the fray. He is the consummate gentleman. Last week Eric offered me this hat. It’s clearly not his size but it’s all the more valuable because of that. Eric offered it to me a price that was a fraction of its value and I’m honored to now be its caretaker. I’ve met some very kind and very generous people here in our virtual lounge. Thank you, Eric.

Beautiful Strat. Now I have to go back through the thread and figure out when the Strat brim size got smaller. This one has the same dimensions as my OR with the same liner crest, sweat stamp, and tag style.
