Thread for re-stitching leather sweatband?

I have a vintage Homburg in great condition except that part of the sweatband has come unstitched. What kind of thread should I get for re-stitching it. Looks like something fine and strong, but I don't know what to ask for.

I have sewn in several sweatbands, and have gotten the best results with a cotton or cotton blend thread. The cotton shrinks just a little, and snugs itself up. Polyester, on the other hand, doesn't shrink, and sometimes seems to actually stretch. However, if you're just resewing a small section, your only concern is matching the color and size of the thread. Polyester could work fine for such a repair.

Thanks. I have about a third of the sweatband to re-sew so the "shrinking and snugging itself up" will probably be good.
