Sad news for those of us who grew up watching the classic Japanese TV series Ultraman. Director, producer and writer of many of the original 60's Ultraman shows, Akio Jissoji has died on November 27 of cancer. He was 69 years old. Jissoji added a touch of humor and New Wave cinema style to the episodes he created.
Composer Kunio Miyauchi has also passed. Mr. Miyauchi died of cancer at age 74. He composed the classic theme for Ultra Q which was the precursor to Ultraman. He also composed scores for many other Japanese TV shows and movies throughout the 60's and 70's.
