two things to note. a block recently sold on ebay that had a very similar shape to it as this has. also, the weave looks very close to my peters brothers straw indy hat that i own. on the top at least...

I'm far from a straw hat expert, but I know what I like, and I can say that this General Kunzig is the most appealing Panama I've ever seen.

The weave, the bash, the color, the pug--all are just perfect to my eye.

Too bad the leather sweat is damaged and uncomfortable. If you cannot substantiate it's Kunzig provenance, I'd replace the sweat with a super-quality new one, and put that beautiful hat on my head on nice days from time to time.

After all, I feel strongly that even collectible vintage hats are best enjoyed with the occasional wearing and not under glass with mask and gloves.
