Here's a vintage wool hat, size 7 1/8. It feels like thin cardboard. Even so, the texture is much finer than modern wool fedoras. Brim 2 1/2", crown 5", little to no taper. Originally $1.65 at Ben Simon & Sons in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Complete with orange feather. I kind of like the ribbon.

A little hard to see, it's a red and blue tophat with "VICTORY" underneath. Do you think this has to do with winning a war or is it just an interesting logo?

"FRAT Omaha Hat & Cap MFG. CO. 100% Wool". I think Frat is an appropriate name seeing how college guys often wore wool fedoras in the olden days.

Ha, sometimes this place reminds me of a guitar-based forum that I also spend a lot of time on. Over there, you'll find guys who fixate on whether your maplifier is powered by valves of solid state or (in some's eyes even worse than solid state) digital. What they all lose sight of, of course, is that it doesn't matter a damn as long as the sound that comes out of it is great!

As with amplifiers, so with hats in my book! I'd rather a great wool hat than a bad fur one (and both of those exist).

Nice hat! :)

You don't see all that many vintage wool hats in that good shape.
I guess that just like new wool felt hats they didn't last as long.
I dig the ribbon.
