Very nice, but.....

...a bit steep, even for a vintage Dobbs I think. I know those sizes attract more money, and don't get me wrong it's a beautiful hat that looks to be in great shape but almost a "C" note shipped? It's a "Milan" Straw. :eusa_doh:

Thanks

for the input, Bolthead. I thought I was bidding a little high already but wasn't sure. I feel better about losing the auction now. It does look to be in remarkable shape for a 50s straw and thought that might fetch a premium. I wonder what they sold for in the day?

I will second that opinion . . .

A nice enough hat, but a bit steep in price IMHO.
You will find better deals if you keep looking . . .

Nice hat, popular size (happens to be my size!), odd that it went that high in December, though.

There's always another hat.

BTW

Meant to add that mine is a 7 3/8 and it fits my
7 1/2 LO head. I don't know its history, but it
appears they made these things in generous sizes.

Yeah, I gotta join in the chorus on this one, KObalto -- better deals are out there, so don't let losing this one break your heart. But I'd still say that the person who bought it got a better value than he would likely get in a brand-spankin' new lid, provided that old Dobbs is in as nice a condition as the photos indicate it is.
