...ok, but it's not a Mustang. I wonder if the head scratching went like this: "now where did I put that dang plane?"

The Wildcat is right up there with the Hellcat and the Dauntless as symbols of the carrier war in the Pacific. What a great find. It must have been at a depth where there was little or no oxygen to corrode it. I've read about sunken ships in the Great Lakes from over 100 years ago that are in remarkable states of preservation. This plane actually stands a chance of flying agin, don't you think? I mean I'm no expert, but with a new engine, who knows?

Per my friend, it's legit--their ad copy could use a little de-BS-ification and a little more attention to detail like the legal matter I noted, but these guys do salvage work for the Navy and are partially paid in plane carcasses.

Which reminds me, that Spitfire being built to original blueprints by a woman in her garage in England was damaged in transit to an airport to be finished. Apparently it's back to just the cockpit section now.
