I suspect minkoil is not favored anymore not because it is bad or ineffective compared to other conditioner, but because it involves mink to be killed solely for its fur and fat. it can make the jacket softer than other conditioner I have, and it stays soft for longer too, and it is only applied very little compared to conditioner cream. downside is it makes the jacket feel sticky even after being buffed
