Before air conditioning came to Lil’ Dixie that was the style in the summer. That corn looks ready for detasseling & you want to wear a shirt with long sleeves for that.

Great pic, Bob. Shady Grove is an unincorporated community in SE, Al. Photographer Gordon Parks did a series of photos through AL in 56. I wonder if that’s one of his?

The more I look at it, Im thinking Grandma may have mis remembered when she wrote the note on the back. Sometime in late 1932 the family moved from St Jo, to Compton, California.. This MUST have been after the move...Dont know why I had never noticed the Palm tree in the picture lol

There was an Outfitter from the days of the Pony Express to the 1950’s (in later yrs more of a sporting goods store). The name escapes me now but they had lots of taxidermy on display, a great novelty at the time for photography. That’s what I thought of upon seeing your post. Some of those taxidermy pcs are still around.

There was a companion pic to this one of my Dads younger sister in a little cowgirl outfit on the exact same pony in the exact same pose...... it was either a pony totally asleep or it was stuffed lol. Dad said the photograpgher was a friend of my Grandfather... he evidentlly travelled all over the western us doing kids portraits until the Depression
