VINTAGE SHELL CORDOVAN SHOES
Size: 10 1/2D? 11D? 12?
Size: 10 1/2D? 11D? 12?
This is a lovely pair of vintage shell cordovan shoes, with the classic shell "ripples" on the uppers.
The maker is unknown--but clearly good, as who else would use shell but a good maker? The shoes do need a good polish. They also have a small (very small) split at the rear on each one, as shown--I suggest using a shoe horn to put them on to prevent this getting any worse. The lining of the tongue has some fraying, as shown--this doesn't affect wear. There's also some minor wear at the edge of the tongue, as shown.
They appear to have been re-soled at some point... and this leads to a puzzle!
The new sole is marked "size 12". But the interior of the shoe is labelled 10 1/2D. And these fit me as a size 11D (I tried!) with a little bit of extra room by the toes--nothing uncomfortable.
My best guess is that these are a large size 10.5 or a (slightly) large 11, and that the sole needed to be a 12 to account for this.
If they fit you, they'll be a great pair of beater shells which will last a LONG time indeed!
Overall, they're in Good condition, so how about just $25 boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA? They're a gamble,. but a reasonable one!
