I did read in a US car mag, maybe Street Rodder(1970s) that there was no real revival of the old times until American Graffiti came along. The feature wrote about how folks would turn up in old cars but dressed in the current mode of clothing(May have been a Pat Ganahl piece). No vintage tunes and clothing consisted of old varsity letterman jackets and baseball shoes.
