Visiting Rochester

Does any kind soul on the Lounge know where one would shop for a hat around here? I'll happily take recommendations for either new or vintage (although well-stocked thrift stores are preferred).

Many thanks!

EDIT: Any recommendations for vintage suit shopping would also be greatly appreciated!

My wife and I took a trip to Rochester and, though it was beautiful, found that vintage and antique shopping was pretty hard to find. There is, however, lots and lots of it in Buffalo. See the Eastman house and the beautiful victorian homes in Rochester, but do your hip shopping and cool cafe stopping in Buffalo. I think that the name of street we really liked was something Elm - Elmhurst, Elm Wood, something like that. It starts downtown and goes from shabby antique stores to trendy, pricey, hipster shops.

Do a search for "Rochester", I asked the same question before visiting the city a while ago and got several replies from locals.

Unfortunately, a visit to Buffalo isn't in the cards. I did find a couple of vintage stores in Rochester, however, although none provided much of a hat selection (or a men's selection, to be honest).

For anybody's future reference, I highly recommend starting at Utter Clutter at 121 Park Ave. There's a possibility of finding good clothing, including hats, for a good price. More imortantly, the proprietor will do her best to direct you to other stores in the area that could help you find what you're looking for. I have to warn any of the more senitive people on the Lounge, though, the woman who owns the place has quite the attitude. Personally, I love it, but it's not what some might expect from a grandmother.

Loungers have been in Rochester and didn't call me? Please do next time.
Did Dave Brown the hatter go out of business? If not, he probably had a couple of hats for sale.
I hadn't heard of Utter Clutter, but the Salvation Army on West Avenue, near my house, had such good vintage items on Thursday I had to return on Friday to get everything I wanted. I didn't happen to look at the men's department that day although I usually do and they consistently have something worth purchasing.
My brother and his family were in town over the week-end and he told me I always know the best places to eat, drink, play, relax, look at things, and shop.
What did you get from Utter Clutter?

Here in Buffalo, we do have a lot of antique shops... but sadly I rarely ever see a man's hat in good condition, let alone my size. I do however see many MANY women's hats. If any ladies like pill box hats.. let me know! lol
