I've not watched any of these three, but IMO the only way to tell that story is to dispense with the tedious, Hollywoodised, 'great romance' angle, and instead concentrate on the real story: how the British establishment conspired to use Wallis Simpson as a convenient excuse to dispose of a King with pronounced Nazi-sympathies. (Surely there's a great work of alternative-history fiction to be had based on the Brits having a pro-Nazi king as the 39 through 45 conflict kicked off...).
