I see that members here have some really beautiful leather police coats in their collections; hopefully someone can help me find what I'm looking for.
Specifically, I'm looking for a Taylor Leatherwear N.Y.P.D. #4497Z 3/4 length coat in size 40; or a Pennsylvania Highway Patrol jacket in the same size. I bought a Gibson and Barnes "Hudson" coat, which was very similar, but not exactly the same as the Taylor jacket; I sent it back. I have been stalking ebay and craigslist, but have not had any luck.
I bought a size 44 Taylor coat off ebay in the hope it might be close...but it's too big.
I'll be selling it soon. It did let me compare the Taylor and Gibson and Barnes coats side by side. Everthing on the Gibson coat seemed smaller, the epaulets and cuffs were smaller, and the liner was a vest style with out sleeves. The Taylor coat has larger epaulets and cuffs as well as a liner with sleeves. The leather seemed slightly nicer on the Taylor coat as well..though I know thats a bit subjective.
I've priced a new Taylor NYPD jacket, with the cheapest being just under $500.00. I'm trying to avoid that...though at this point between the Gibson and Barnes jacket and the wrong size Taylor one I could have bought a new one...
Any ideas? Anyone have one to sell? Any help is sincerely appreciated.
