I agree wholeheartedly.

Although "Zero Effect" with Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller was a fantastic indirect retelling of the classic Holmes tale, "A Scandal in Bohemia."

But then, it was hardly a "remake."

Yes, and interesting thing is, Wells wrote WOTW also as a protest against English Imperialism and it's destructive spread across the globe at the time.

A far less interesting this is Spielberg made a movie that he CALLED "War of the Worlds" in protest of the fact that he couldn't afford the RED sports car and had to buy the BLUE one instead.

Hahah...yes indeedy. The destroyer of classic literature. Lets just hope that one day a decent director (with a great SFX team) will take on the 1898 story and blow this version away.

I once again agree wholeheartedly.

The Spielberg film wasn't a BAD movie, it just had about as much in common with the book as that pathos-filled dreck, "Independence Day."

Just picked up this book today at WalMart for 5 bucks.
It includes a CD of the original broadcast with a few extras thrown in!
