Since your comand of the Swedish language may be a little rusty, here's a translation ;)

The search for Dalai Lama

I was sent by my country's ministers,
to seek our future prince.
And I promised not to come back,
before I could tell them where he is.
I got two signs to go by
when I started traveling around,
a birthmark that looked like a rose,
and a strange golden ring.

I started looking in finer places,
where a prince could conceivably go.
Then I went in pubs and inns,
and everywhere I could think of.
And I was looking for the golden ring
in every jeweler's shop.
And then I went out on the garbage dumps
looking through rags and waste and scrap.

And I wandered far and long,
to wherever people live.
And though most people got birthmarks,
there was none that looked like a rose.
And many has rings and jewelry,
and but a few has lots more.
But all that glitters isn’t gold,
I have learned that from experience.

The poor in Calcutta who has no food,
collect cow shit and strainers it,
to see if there are any undigested grains of rice left.
And so must those who want to find,
and not looking for the search's sake,
be ready to look anywhere
and not be prejudiced.

So now I sit here in a bachelor’s hotel
in a strange and scary town.
And among the rags and filth
in this stench are human debris in a row.
And among these crooked bodies,
I search for a rose and a ring.
For maybe just one among the rubble here
should show himself to be a prince.

Two high-styled, atmospheric pieces that eventually lent their themes to popular songs.
Deep Purple was one of the smash hits of 1938 with Mitchell Parish's lyric.
Park Avenue Fantasy gave rise to 1939's Stairway to the Stars.

I finally stopped listening to "We'll Meet Again".

Vera Lynn's voice is just...mesmerising...

I'm currently listening to the Third Man theme.

Here it is, performed by the man himself:

I LOVE Paul Whiteman and I'm crazy about Deep Purple :D
The song Deep Purple was still playing on the local radios stations when I was a young child in the early 1950's, it was a hit yet then and is considered one of the greatest songs of all times, and for it to have lasted from the days it was first recorded speaks volumes for it's being a master song.

I have a friend, that collects old records that are in mint condition, he has perhaps over 30,000 records and most of them are the 78's and from a time period prior to 1950. He finds it rewarding to have every single record that some of the great "big bands" produced, the Glen Millers and Tommy Dorsey era and even the other artist from that time era. He is so involved with collecting those records and has them stacked in every single room of his home, you have to "walk a path" through them. His collection is priceless. He has them sort of organized by style of music, has some stacks that are "America oriented" (marching band type music by John P. Sousa) and theme music regarding this Nation, (National anthem) to what would be called early blues, gospel, jazz and swing. I have no clue how he recalls where everything is at, but he does.

In his garage, he has a train collection of old Lionel trains and such.
