I am loathe to admit it, because most all of the diehard Doors fans I know are chicken dancing, tie-dye and birkenstockers with too many bumper stickers on their car, but for the most part the Doors are fairly genius.

True. I had only paid passing attention to them up until a few years ago. Once I really started to get past the hype/legend and the usual 'classic rock' radio cuts I developed a real appreciation for what they did.

They're no Zeppelin by any stretch, but they are far better than the rest of the head shop heroes they get lumped in with.

And despite being the poster boy for self obsessed tortured artist types, Morrison had a really good voice. He sounds a little like Tom Jones would if he took himself too seriously.
