Back in my adolescent days attending the Big Rock Shows at Hara Arena, there was a period where it seemed like, if Bob didn't open for the main act, Blue Oyster Cult did. I even saw him open for Black Sabbath once. Most of these shows were before the most of the ballad days and commercial success. Nutbush City Limits, Katmandu, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, etc.

Those two albums made him a star, though. The chicks dug the ballads.

Yes, a lot of the Pogue's going on over here with Shane having gone on his final adventure. Fairytale has gone to number one in Ireland this week. I suspect it will make it to Christmas number one in the UK as well - and deservedly so. If it does, it would have amused himself - after they lost out on the top spot in 1987 to a truly awful cover of an Elvis number by the Pet Shop Boys.
