The only Open Road left in my hat room. It fits well on haircut day. I need to remember to take it our for a walk more often.

Your hats always look so... contented, Alan. They are always totally at ease. Purring, almost. That is one satisfied OR.

It's always fun to see what you put together, Michael... nice outfit today!
Thanks Alan. Today's selections are perhaps a bit toned down from yesterday's. Your Open Road today is a thing of beauty. The perfect example of the model.

Thank you sir. It was a good day for warm clothes here today, or should that be a day for good warm clothes? However, tightly though the Portis clings to my head it did take off on it's own once in the very gusty winds. I'll have to go with a cap if I go out again today.

Thanks all,
Michael

And here's some shots of the rudimentary blocking and sewing setup for the DIY projects =)

I think we have the same sewing machine. Works well, but binding brims shorter than 2 1/2" is a challenge with the case sticking out past the needle so far. Nice Lock & Co. btw.

Hey all!
It will be a long 40 days without mmbarnes' great hats and unique obsevations on life.
Headed over to the parent's house to walk Pearl the dog while they are out of town. Bright sunny day, perfect for straw.
Because sun...Dobbs Sunbrero. Late 50's to early 60's.

And 'cause I mentioned a dog, here she is.

She has a chewing on herself problem, hence the inflatable anti-chew donut. Looks silly, but not as silly as the cone.
Have a great day!

Thanks! Very true about the binding issues... Right now, I find the sweet spot is a 2.75" brim. I can make it work with a 2.5" brim, but I can't go much tinier than that without having to really hold the hat in an awkward position. Love your sunbrero and I hope the pup stops chewing herself!

Two days out of the loop and I find 335 new posts?!! You guys keep busy!
Here I am with a Marida hat that my parents bought for me in Harrods some 30 years ago. Nice peachbloom fur felt, but the brim turn was trimmed too close to the stitches and it has come loose in a couple of spots (fixing it is in my to-do list) Still a classic cloche with a beautiful bow.

That is a nice old cloche Cristina. And I like the scarf and coat too. A classic look.
