613SH today , caught in the rain gave off the sweetest (literally) smell when wet . Anyone else notice horsehide smells slightly different from cow? Or did this horse just wear a lot of Stetson when he was alive?

I love how they seemed to have switched to the mitered buckle on this jacket after I paid them to change the buckle on mine to one of those.

If I helped move them in that direction, I'm very happy to have done so.

The mitered buckle is one of the details that led people to buy the Japanese model whose pattern isn't as good and whose hide is less interesting.
Well if so then I for one have benefited and for that, my thanks to you. For the reasons you've listed I think this one has become my number one

Got this awesome Cycle Champ repro for a decent price over in the east.
Made in USA from Protech(never heard about this brand so I had really low expectations but I'm quite surprised over how good the jacket is), unused and the quality seems decent enough :D

Love the short "vintage" length of the jacket(double buckles is so cool haha) and overall fit, I really don't mind the shorter arms but I know a lot people do, the cowhide is really decent with some nice weight to it, very nice :D

Recently acquired this late 50s Rich Sher horse hide jacket on Depop for 80 bucks. The liner is pretty banged up and the leather definitely needs conditioning, but it has the original labels and zipper.

@Kunja that M422a may be the best example I've ever seen - the grain on that is fabulous. Is it truly from 1942, and if so, is it robust enough to wear on the regular?
Yes, it is very robust and absolutely wearable. I picked it up recently on VLJ from SilverSufer and the jacket feels like it came out of a time machine. Just incredible, even the knits still have strong elasticity.

I think someone else here (a Swiss member I think) picked up one of these. Absolutely fantastic.

I like it a lot, it will turn 2 next week and I'd be happy if it were my only jacket. But then I can say that of a few others...
Boots are chelseas from Lennertson, Belgian brand made in Portugal, denim are Soso.

Yeah the one and only, Mr Jiaward guided me to an old post from the legend himself 48panheadfan where he shows off a beautiful Trojan version from Protech that I will def. keep my eyes open for!).
