What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Bought this carhartt jacket new a couple years ago and somehow ended up with one that’s US-made. I actually (regretfully) got this one off Amazon of all places. Be assured I don’t shop there anymore lol, at least as much as I can avoid it. I’m not sure if it’s just luck of the draw or if there is a way to intentionally source from their modest domestic production. If anyone has an answer let me know! I know the famous Dave’s New York carries their US-made double knees.
No one asked but this website was the most promising source I could find for US-made carhartt, and of the two actual workwear items listed both had a note indicating they couldn’t promise US origin due to Carhartt’s “blended inventory.” So I guess it remains an open question how to reliably source that stock.

This Reddit thread has some interesting info on carhartt’s foreign and domestic production, but it’s four years old and limited to the US and Mexico

Next up - simply put, the "easiest wearing" leather cross-zip motorcycle jacket I have ever handled. This is the late 1990's / early 2000's Harley Davidson "Basic Skins" jacket. Ironically one of their last Made in USA jackets, and also at the time was their cheapest leather offering. Even better, no skulls, no extra graphics and details, and only one tiny medallion under the LH lower pocket with the HD name.

It's a solid mid-weight cowhide (about a 5-lb jacket), new retailed around $215, broke in easily and so simple to throw on and wear all day, every day. I owned two of these prior and foolishly gave away or sold both. This one has the optional USA flag on the left sleeve, which I believe raised the original price ~ $10. This one came from a consignment shop, however it has an issue that may lead me to move it along. Someone kept this in a musty garage or basement - even after a washing it's pretty musty smelling. I'll keep it out in the sun and try and keep airing it out, but it's pretty rank.

Interesting pocket layout..
There's too much going on at front of the jacket.if you use both internal pockets. This was made during the Will days,so basically anything a customer wanted they got,the inside pockets wouldn't have been my choice,I bought it from the original owner in 2010 still with tags attached.

It's a 30s half belt, beautifully soft ,the ladies love it,it feels like heavy sheepskin, doesn't "patina",or colour wear off if you look at it the wrong way.Its my dressy Aero :) ,in otherwords, perfect wearer to the afternoon tea dances .
