Who looks the most dapper in a modern hat?

I don't think it takes more stlye as much as finding the perfect hat - custom or off-the-rack -- you have to wear the hat, not the hat wear you. Recognizing that is the key, which is evident in the pix in this thread.

I mainly wear custom hats b/c good brand name hats are hard to find in my area and never in my small head size (6 7/8). So I go custom - which are pattern like the brand names I like. But I don't think I have "less style" b/c I wear them.

I agree with you. But I don't mean you have less style for going custom, rather you have an easier job getting the hat to look good. If you're 6 7/8 I'd suggest looking on ebay for vintage, as they come cheaply in that size. Consider it a blessing that you can easily aquire vintage hats.

Meh, what the hell, it's probably my only good picture in a hat anyways.

In the Tilley Fedora; so modern, it doesn't even have grosgrain. Do I get extra points for that? :D

I would give you a lot of extra points for making a low crowned, tapered, factory creased, non-grosgrain ribboned hat look that smart.

By the way, how does that hat stand up to rain and wind?

Well it is actually factory creased and it is pretty tapered, here it is beside my Adventurer.

It holds up to the elements really well. The fit is a bit off because of the lack of a leather sweatband and the foldaway earflaps, but it can be secured pretty snugly with the earflaps down...making it even goofier that it already is. lol

But I digress, it was my first felt fedora and it was a gift. It will always have a special place in my heart and on my head

She'd look very good with about 15 more pounds...

Try about three times that and come back and talk to me. It never ceases to creep me out thed way someone so, ultimately, child-like is held up as a sexualised image by contemporary media. Highly distasteful to say the very least.

In the interest of keeping things on track and off of a "what constitutes soft porn?" discussion, we've pruned this thread a bit. Carry on.
(On topic, please)
