Man, you look good! And you made the cap? I like that style more than most I see. I like how the front brim sticks out there a bit with nothing on it. Sharp!
Thanks Doug. Yeah I made it. It's sort of a cross between a peaked hat, a motorcyle cap and a fisherman's cap. Or that's my take at least. It can be worn in flat cap mode as well. I should probably make some more of them out of a better quality fabric.

Looking at the forecast for wind gusts to 40 mph today I thought cap.

So I picked this one I made a couple of years ago.

But when I went out to take the photos the wind wasn't too bad, and it was frickin cold. So an overcoat and the Knox Grafton came into play.

Off to look at hat pictures now. Have a good one,
Michael

Great looks, and that cap is a beautiful pattern and shows fine workmanship, which somehow comes as no surprise!

Thanks Cristina. I think the pattern is from an out of print set of cap and hat patterns from Vogue. I really should see if I can find it around here in my mess again and sew a few more of this one. Most of my flat caps and newsboys I drafted myself.

Thank you guys, that's very kind of you to say. You are real gentlemen :)

After a brimless weekend, I needed something more substantial today. This hat was hand made by a talented German lady, who did a great job although she could perhaps use some pointers from @EstherWeis or @Kuki here on how to cut a brim with a steady hand, because it's a just tiny bit wobbly on occasion. It doesn't really show that much, but I have considered adding binding to make it look smoother. On the plus side, I really like the overall shape and the felt is of high quality, beautifully soft and pliable but without any of the annoying floppiness that plagues many modern women's hats.

Looks nice from this distance, would some sanding even the edge? Wobbly edges get to my nerves too!

How cool is that?! Congratulations Cristina, I really liked your micro-story, a well-deserved win! Have you got some spare bookmarks for us too?
/QUOTE]

Glad you liked it! I got very few bookmarks, the competition is organized by a hat shop and they print then mostly to give away to their customers. But if you come pick one up you will certainly get one!

Wow! Did you buy it on their online shop? It's a small world!

Nope I bought it in the brick and mortar shop, one of my grand dad's was born in Navia, Asturias, so I have relatives in Oviedo, one of my uncle's was the finance minister of the Principado, don't blame me for it !!! And during a trip to visit them I got the beret !!! Small world indeed
