Thank you all for your comments! They are nice boots! I have been away all weekend and took them with me and wore them most of the time. Don't normally do that as I usually rotate my boots but Art said to wear them all weekend to help break them in. The fit is better then any other boots, As I said my first Wilson's were the only boots that fit me well. These boots fit on my feet better over my instep better than others. The heal is 1/4" higher than the ones on my Wilson's but are good still. For me Higher heals works better, lower roper heals and the standard 1 5/8" heals. I will post more photos as they break in.

I popped in to a local western store and they have a small collection of custom boots on display--so I ask if they are for sale--first thing they say is they're a weird size--like an 11B--just my size haha. So I tried them all on, and most were too tight in the toes, but 2 pair of Rocketbusters fit. The owner said he'd consider selling them so he's thinking about it. I'd say they are older maybe from the first generation or a little newer--perhaps 10-15 years old (but in excellent condition) I seem to recall the inlaid Rocketbusters selling new for a few hundred back in those days--but now they are in the $1400-$2000 range for something similar. So after that long story--any idea what a used pair might be worth? I searched Ebay and there are a lot of high asking prices with unsold results. Many of the completed listings are for newer mfg, and in common sizes, which would attract more biddrs. I just want to be prepared in case he throws a price at me (I'm sure he's researching on his end too :). I have some numbers in mind but would love to hear opinions from others more experienced in the game than I.
Thanks!
To follow up--no luck. I stopped in the store and talked to the owner. I had to make the first move and threw out a price and he didn't bite--he said he's kind of attached to them and that he'll "let me know" if he changes his mind--oh well. That said, I'm plotting a new pair of Paul Bond's and plan to visit the factory this summer and get measured. Of my two current pairs one is a perfect fit, and the other less so. Art said it's because one pair has a higher more underslung heel and the boots need to be built a little different (the higher heel boots fit better i.e. more snug in the instep).

They didn't photograph too well, but these were a special run we did while I worked at Boot World. Tony Lama had a batch of purple lizard so we had these made up and many of the employees ordered a pair--Purple lizard vamp, black tops, with purple and turquoise stitching. Kinda fun--wore them for the first time in a long time the other night.

Stringmaster, what is the heal height of the boots that fit you better? My new ones fit well and have a 2 1/4" heal which is a 1/4" higher than I am used too. Other than pushing on my toes when I am on my feet to long they fit great.

I think they're are 2 1/4"--They're my riding boots but I wear them around some--not super comfortable to stand on concrete all day in though! My other pair have an 1 5/8" heel. I have a narrower foot with kind of a low instep.

Yes I have a wide foot with a high instep and arch. I don't like low heals but the 2 1/4" is not good for me on concrete either. 2" seems to be my sweet spot, I have worn 2" heals for years. I will probably Order 2" heals for my next pair of boots from Paul Bond.

So I have a question for all who wear cowboy boots. What do you all wear for socks? I have tried many different types of socks over the years and found few are good. Wool in winter is best.

You all's responses should be interesting!

Thorlo Boot Socks in white, over the calf with padded heel, toe & ball of the foot area. I've had a couple of other brands that were not as good as Thorlo.
I tried them in the past, one issue for me with many socks is being to thick. Not sure why most makers seem to think you need padding on the top of the foot along with the bottom. Most be because I have high instep I think this way.

Dan Post Cowboy Certified boot socks (white, over the calf) -- they really stay up and don't fall down!

But (and I think I may have said so previously in this thread) . . . in addition to those socks I feel tempted to get a few pairs of long white old-school tube socks with stripes at the top just to wear with boots. It would be like wearing wild boxer shorts -- you're wearing something out of the ordinary, and only you would know. :D
