I am my own armed guard ... trust me I turn into fkn Jackie Chan when cats reach for my hat ... no matter what hat I'm wearing

what is up with that anyway ? ... people actually reach out to touch my hat when saying something like ... "hey nice hat" ... it's like when the lady at the grocery store insists on touching my kids ... hands off people !!!
Whoa... that's creepy.

I have never had anyone giving a compliment reach out to touch one of my hats.

I am not Dieter and my hat ain't no monkey!

I wonder if that reaction is a regional thing.

it's mostly people I know or acquaintances ... occasionally they will reach for the brim of my hat and I bob and weave like Cassius Clay ... annoying
Ahh .... friends! I have a daughter that takes my hat from my head whenever I see her. She likes to wear it for a few minutes. A ritual of sorts. I need to try that " bob and weave" action.... "rope a dope" isn't cutting it.

I found a thread about the hat maker but I can't seem to get it come come up. So here's what you do. Google the phrase that's in the hat liner. It's in French but the hat maker appears to be English. The phrase means "God is my right" anyway Google the phrase and you will find answers.

Very interesting.
I've got a few mystery hats. But this one might take the cake.

Still chilly here today so sticking with the felt. My great-great-grandfathers Dobbs. He was never without his hat and this was probably the last he ever purchased. Once again from Stern Brothers in Parkersburg, WV sometime late 50's. And once again with his initials W.E.S. inside. Found it in a closet about 8 years ago in the original box. Amazingly great condition. :) So much so I hesitate to wear it much.
