My hat store friend in Germany received official notice from Borsalino this past Tuesday. They are calling it a technical bankruptcy and continue usual production / business. I guess it just more wait and see at this point.

The right spelling is: cuoio (leather) and c with the dot means in italian "cinta" (ribbon)
The color of the ribbon is leather for a wonderful Borsalino

I just snagged this on eBay. Not much listed in the auction and the pictures are not the best. But the price seemed worthy of taking a risk. I'm hoping it's at least 1950s or older. But I must admit the stitching on the brim is what caught my eye. Not to sure about the puggaree ribbon. It will be interesting to see the tags when it arrives.

Looks promising. Oilskin is a age clue. The mfg tags will tell some more. I love that ribbon treatment. It is probably not a true puggaree (removable), but really cool. Can't wait to see it in captivity Bill.

It is mounted on wood, length cm. 8, height 2.1 cm., depth 4.3 cm.
I think it will enrich the magnificent collection of Steve (mayserwegener) of chlichè for printing the linings of the hats produced in central Europe some years ago.
I then bought and I'm reading the inventory of the Borsalino Historical Archive with attached documentation CD.
Soon a summary of the story, seen from the inside, of the "Casa Borsalino Giuseppe e fratello" will be ready

Another thin ribbon. This one has a wind cord that is about 3ft long. Still trying to figure out how it is supposed to retain it's position on the hat?
Those oilskin liners are almost always fifties. Looks to be a great hat, Bill and the pictures aren't that bad. I buy hats on a regular basis based on pictures way way worse than these. Advantage of poor auction shots is that other interested parties can't see what the auction really is about
