Agree. Both are excellent mid-weight horse hides. Notwithstanding my preference for Shinki, I would not hesitate to buy another jacket made from Vicenza HH.

Yes, I think Shinki and Vincenza are pretty similar (and most probably wouldn't recognize the difference), but both are quite different than Horween FQHH. Horween FQHH is a separate type hide altogether - much thicker and waxier. After handling some of these mid-weight leathers, I doubt I'd order an Aero in FQHH. It is great stuff, but the mid-weight stuff drapes much better.

Yes, Work Coat would be a good alternative. Certainly the new Vicenza is really nice - loads of grain and depth of colour - so it would not be a compromise, just something equally nice but a little different.

Life's pretty damn good when an Aero Vincenza Work Coat is your cheaper fall back option! Great problem to have.;)

I almost always buy used jackets. I'm not suggesting a new Aero is cheap - just cheaper than Himel or FW. I really like the FW Brakeman and the Himel Canuck, but realize I could never afford one. With a little saving on the side, I could afford an Aero that looks pretty similar, and I agree it would be equally as good.

This is the "caboose" from a member on another forum. I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to have a leather like this. It's perfect in my eyes.

I would love a jacket like that. I actually like that glossy finish.

Hey guys,
Three years after opening this thread I finally received my first Freewheelers jacket in Shinki HH - actually the Caboose in dead-leaf brown one. To be honest I was not expeciting this high quality and smell of leather, stitching, details, leather color, grain, suppleness, etc. To make it short, I'm thrilled!! Sleeve length, shoulder width is quite good, but the chest is quite tight...I expected 51.5 cm pit to pit for size 38 (according to their description) but it actually is less than 49cm...the Rakuten shop owner said that the measurements may vary (he took the measurement of the black one) and offered 10% discount for a potential next order...perhaps in 5 years :p I'll keep it, because it still fits (even if its tight) like a Cafe Racer jacket when wearing just one layer. Besides my BK Aeronaught (dark seal Victory HH) which I purchase from a fellow forum member, this one is by far my favorit jacket!! As import duty and shipping was quite expensive, returning is no option for me! Pictures to follow soon as I'll travel a lot in the upcoming weeks. Ciao, Robbie

Congratulations! Waiting for the fit pics :D
Just out of curiosity, where did you get it from?

the chest is quite tight...
It's the common issue with japanese makers.
Correct size = tight chest.
Bigger size to get correct chest = too long sleeves and too long the whole jacket all-in-all.
Japanese sizing and proportions are often quite strange.

It's designed for the Japanese body type which is quite unique.
