Sure is was not one of Bob Hopes???Ran across this on a closed auction from 2012. Listed as a "Great Old Cowboy Hat; unusual 1930's period hat with an extra tall crown 10", and 3" brim with a pencil roll. Still retaining its original sweatband."
Needs more brim.

I think you are right! It’s like those eeerie historical “Nick Cage“ photos.I was searching for something else and found this painting. The link didn't go to this particular painting, so I don't know the artist, date, etc. Couldn't kick it up with a Google image search either.
I am pretty sure it's @Jesse John from another life though ...

Here's a contribution from the (mid) West. How abouts the Borsalino Caldo I? It has a vast 3 1/2" brim, soft felt, and plenty of weather protection when I have to rustle up the herd or something. I nicknamed it "Renegade Border Patrol" before I aptly gave up on politics. Thank God for that! View attachment 421748 View attachment 421747
Good luck to anyone wanting a hat like Bob Hope's.Sure is was not one of Bob Hopes??? View attachment 421743 View attachment 421739 View attachment 421741
Glad to hear it fits Stefan despite it, on paper, not being your size. One of the advantages of Italian hats running small. This one came in this week. Some of you have mentioned that they'd like to see me in a western hat and it's true: I don't wear them. Closest I get is wearing an Open Road, which doesn't really count I believe. I own very few of them and I came close to another last year (but that Stetson Buckaroo never made it over here). Truth is that western hats don't really fit in where I live, unless you want to look like a total boob. Doesn't mean I can't be tempted though. So here is one I jumped on.
Not a Borsalino wetsern, but a Barbisio Cow boy in the colour Lisbona (an attractive natural beaver/tan colour). Size 58 with the raw edge brim at 9cm and the crown creased at 11cm. Weighs in at 175 grams. The good news is that I can actually wear it, just like its sibling in black.
Thanks, Steve. It is odd that a size 58 fits me (but not unheard of). I think it has something to do with the way it was blocked (more round than oval). I have the wearing part covered though (but you have to wait until tomorrow).Glad to hear it fits Stefan despite it, on paper, not being your size. Of course, you know now that the guys will be badgering you for a photo of you wearing it

Thanks, Brent. When I wear it I suddenly have the urge to use "y'all" every other sentence. Very strange.A cloud of dust and a hearty hi-o Silver, the Lone Dutchman rides again!
