My phone seems to think that the hat and sweatshirt are navy blue but they are both black. And that's a CD, by the way.

I had an awesome hat experience yesterday. I brought a trashed old PHD Optimo on a trip. Might not get many more rolls out of this one! It's splitting in half. Other cracks popping through. (I even wore it biking at top well-dressed pace!) Even so, I didn't see a nicer hat in 10 days in the fine city I visited. (Sad to say.) Yesterday I went into a favorite place and a guy immediately said "Nice hat" and shook my hand. A little funny. Went into another much nicer place and the first guy I passed also said "Nice hat." That's where I took the pic. One of my all-time favorite places. Then I was delivered to the airport -- not driving! Can anyone tell where?

Out for errands in the deluxe SBCD.

These deluxe Akubras are so darn comfortable; but the felt might be a bit too thick by the end of the work week. We’re supposed to have 99 degrees the day after tomorrow.

Also shown here is the Maple Hill Cemetery which lies close by my house. Maple Hill is Alabama’s oldest and largest cemetery and keeps the remains of a number of prominent historical figures, including the first governors of Alabama, CSA and Union generals, women’s suffragists and German rocket scientists.

Huntsville is an interesting town.

I’m gonna guess Detroit. Is that a Red Wings hockey jersey?

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Flexible" possibly later 1920s. This Stiff Felt is overall fantastic and one of my favorites. It has both an interesting liner color and brogued sweatband. Also in excellent overall condition. I found this Stiff Felt back in 2013.

Beautiful, Steve. Hats like that will not be made anymore by anyone.
Seconded, though the Borsalino comes close.
Thanks, Gary. Both for the comment and for the food pics beneath it!

Stevens Hats - 4X Beaver Western
Chocolate Brown Felt
Approx 4 3/4 Open Crown
Tri-Cord Ribbon
2 5/8 Brim with bound edge

This Stevens tri-cord 4X Beaver caught my eye and I was happy to bring it home for the opening bid which was less than its original retail price of $13.95. Maybe an interesting look at what was soon to become Stetson branded manufacturing. A bit slighter dimensions for a western with a just under 5 inch open crown and 2 5/8 bound brim. The hand is nice and smooth, but the crown is a bit stiff. It does take a nice dry crease… though it does seem to prefer its open crown. The hole noted by the seller in the front of the crown looks to be a small moth divot that doesn’t appear to go all the way through… as well as another near the top left side of the crown. Other than that the felt is in seal nice shape. The remnants of the thin yellow crinkly plastic liner tip have me guessing late 50s early 60s… but just a guess really could be a bit later.

Great shape and good looking felt, Joe. What more can you ask for?
