Brim treatment aside, this similarity strikes me as remarkable.

Also look at this side view of the bash. Great stuff! ROFD

It's also very similar to the Saratoga, looking at the way the felt is creased on the side:

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a C&K. Also looks like it might have a Cavanagh Edge, which would be correct on a C&K at this time.

Good catch, Mario! I need to sit down and watch this film one of these days.

Once you have a 1931 hat

...you'll need a 1931 suit. It'll have to be a high-buttoning 2B or 3B short jacket, with high rise, straight legged, and pretty full trou. Peak lapels and a vest wouldn't hurt.

Best part is, it could be your 1932, 1933, 1934, or "till times get better" suit.

National-Bellas Hess Co. catalog, spring, 1931.
Cribbed shamelessly from Marc Chevalier.

Yeah, well... It's a pity that they are so hard to find (and expensive as well). I'm thinking about having a suit made for me by www.mycustomtailor.com or www.mysuitshop.com.

Great stills, Mario!

Thanks for posting these. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

I would have thought back-bows were much later, a '50s thing. Maybe a revival?

Interesting how varied the crown shapes and even brims were - a very casual approach, grab it by the crown and plop it on and soft crowns too.

Was this awhile ago? Last month perhaps? I'm having trouble remembering.

Today, about three hours ago.

Here's the text that arrived via email notification:

Best bet for OTR clothes might be to buy a Short and a Regular (or perhaps a Regular and a Long) of the same suit, then wear the longer trousers with the shorter coat. Maybe even take the short trou and have them made into a vest. :D

It won't be a custom suit, certainly, but at least you have some choice over the basic look of the thing. Sending a tailor illustrations to copy is likely make both of you unhappy.

It almost looks like the artist used a still from this movie to do the artwork.

We really need to have a 'Saratoga Bash' contest.

My guess is that you'll first need to have the proper hat that can take a bash like that, with the right proportion, pliability and all.

Me, I want one! Or two. Or three...
