Modern rabbit, vintage rabbit, modern beaver

Nutria hats This conversation reminds me of an exchange from the Seinfeld episode "The Chicken Roaster": Ipswitch: Ms. Benes, the hat you charged to the company was sable, this is nutria. Elaine: Well, that's a kind of sable. Ipswitch: No, its a kind of rat. Elaine: That's a rat...

Leather Blazers FS: One SOLD, one Pending.

I've just gotta ask: How much would it cost me to buy and ship The Oakwood to Portland, OR?

Open crown, stingy brim + available

The Watchman I don't know if you have checked out the Penman Hat Company website yet (Penman is based out of Hillsboro, by the way, not Portland) but he actually makes a replica of the Rorschach hat using some of the same materials as the people who created the original. Penman's replica can be...

    New Star Trek

You're right. I was overreaching to say they didn't waer make-up. However, a bald cap, some grease paint and fake facial hair were staples of my Halloween when I was around eight, so I tend not to think of these as true professional make-up. Thanks for the link to the 'Cheeseist trek monsters...

    New Star Trek

On the other hand, TOS artists often wouldn't bother to make-up their aliens (e.g. Klingons, Clint Howard [AKA Balok], Trelane of Gothos) or would thow a couple of antennae on their foreheads (e.g. Andorians) or points on their ears (Vulcans/Romulans.) Every once in a while, they'd go all out...

    AUCTION #175: Lee - Trinity - Blue Label - Size 7 1/2 - C0000228989

Curses, Johnnyphi! I waited months for this hat. However, I'm told that the beginning of an expensive, cross-country move would be a bad time to buy a $200+ hat, no matter how nice. Good luck everryone!

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Overuse of exclamation points, to me, smacks of Nigerian spam mail and bad used car salespeople. ALL CAPS HAS MUCH THE SAME 'FEEL' FOR ME. For me, it creates the impression that the seller relies on the size of the font and the number of "!'s" rather than an eloquent description of a quality...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Looking at the e-bay ad, I'd be a bit leery... My trust in a seller's honesty is inversely proportional to the number of "!!!'s" they use in their description of an item. Let us know how the lid looks after all is said and done!

    Question about Indiana Jones

As long as we're going off topic, check out the Internet Movie Databases list of Crystal Skull flubs and goofs, many of which are anachronisms. I'm surprised at how many there are... but, then again, I've never tried to film a period movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/goofs And as...

    For gtdean: Stacks O' Hats!

That is exactly what I was thinking!! Oh - and please put me on the list for a grey 7 3/8 with a 2 1/2" (or wider) brim when your wife calls the guys in the white coats and they make you part with some of those fine hats!

    Question about Indiana Jones

 Well, I don't know about that... but point taken. Back on topic: Here is a crowd of people gathered at a Labor Day picnic in Massachusetts circa 1957. Note that a good number of male heads are covered by the chapeau that we love so well (too well?) And - this comes from a person...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I'm looking on e-bay daily and I'm not spotting these fine hats... It's as though I have a filter that prevents me from finding them. I wonder if my wife has sabotaged my e-bay account.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I know - that was some pretty elaborate storytelling. I half expected that the lucky winner would find Howard Hughes hiding under the hat.

No Longer For Sale, Superfino Panama.

Lefty- You're right. We should base our entire economy on a game of 20 questions! Is it bigger than a breadbox? Garrett- Did the hat melt or bust into flames upon being photographed? Sorry SPRFINO, but your sales technique is out of my realm of experience. I will never be counted amongst...

Dude in a wheelchair ran my hat over!

You were there, so you would know better than I - but if they clipped the bag with their back wheel and didn't make any sign that they noticed that they ran over your hat - maybe they didn't notice? It is hard to believe that someone could run over the hat without knowing... did they go over the...
