I've a Yashicamat I bought a few years ago. It doesn't get used loads, but I put a roll through it fairly regulalry and the images it produces are just superb. Obviously the large negatives help, but I find the clarity of the lens and tonality it can produce with good filmstock constantly...
Interesting to read some of those stories; I have to say that I welcome the 'honest' approach to recent history, so at least we may have a chance to understand. There is always a danger that the official history can sweep aside uncomfortable and unpleasant truths.
I was at the Goodwood Revival again this year see here an absolutely fantastic 'step back in time' to the immediate post war era of motor racing in England. The event is truly stunning, with huge efforts on behalf of the organisers, and attendees, to recreate the period.

I have been on the lookout for battledress too. Have been keeping an eye out for originals, but it's never quite right! Sizing-wise, I'm relatively slender but at 6'0'', I need a longer cut, ideally the size 16 blouse. And original trousers are never long enough - I've a 34'' inseam!
