    Men wearing vase/flower lapel pins?

My favorite detective portrayed by the perfect Poirot. (He once portrayed Detective-Inspector Japp, too.) The producers had to have that boutonniere custom-made I believe because they couldn't find one, and Mr. Suchet was sure Poirot would wear one. He was no doubt right.

    Walking Sticks & Canes.

Whatever that is, it's probably very collectible. Like everything else from cast iron to tussy-mussies, there are many people who collect walking sticks. (If I were rich and famous, I'd collect them too)

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

A few years ago when I found an elderly Towncraft (JC Penney) felt hat with finished edge that fit perfectly at a flea market, I just couldn't resist. It looks old but it's still my most comfortable hat, and despite the fact that it came from Penney's, it's better quality and finish than...

I did ! I found the perfect hat for me !

I just checked that on line and don't see the Trilby you have. They do have a nice fairly stingy brim rabbit felt for 119 euros, which isn't bad, especially when they offer them in a wide variety of sized.

    Penney's Marathon Genuine Hopoka

My Hopoka hat Thanks. I think my hat fits right in with the photos. Anyway, I like it and it's in good shape. The sweatband was a bit dried out and wrinkled, but I worked some hand lotion into it and cleaned it and it's coming along very nicely. I'm going to wear it a little longer, even though...

    Penney's Marathon Genuine Hopoka

At a nearby flea market I picked up a nice-looking straw hat for $10. It's a Penney's Marathon with a very fine weave, albeit stiff (says it has been weatherized), and has an imitation leather sweatband. Very good condition since the only one like it that I could locate was a 1943 Penney's ad...

    Vintage versus modern ´quality´

Good thinking. I get into enough trouble around here without having our Christmas tree being gnawed on. Thanks.

    Vintage versus modern ´quality´

So far I haven't run into a vintage Stetson. I do have a new one (The Saxon), which is very nice. I'm not sure what it's made of, but I would imagine rabbit. If I lay a carrot on the table I notice the hat tends to tilt in that direction. The edge is folded over and glued down I think. On the...

i mostly see the center crease instead of the other crown shapes

You're right. In the good old days even JC Penney (Towncraft)came in long oval, round, etc. Now even hats selling for over two hundred bucks only come in small medium and large. Unless your shoe size is D (medium) or the E series (wide), you're out of luck unless you're willing to pay through...

Hey, looks just like the lint my wife constantly throws away after cleaning out the dryer. Maybe I can start something new here. Genuine Lint Hats!

Pawn stars - john wayne hat

John Wayne's feet. The story I heard was that character actor Harry Carey taught him to do that toed-in walk in order to give him a more intimidating, even menacing presence as he walked toward someone. I'd say it worked better than expected. You could recognize the Duke a mile away just from...

    Dunn & Co.

Being a Yank, I never heard of Dunn until that fateful visit in 1982. I liked the appearance of the shop and the employee was very courteous and helpful. Unfortunately I have only a vague memory of tweed jackets or something like that in the window. I fully expect my gloves (and the insulated...

    Panama Hat Thread

I think they're available from Mexico. I see them fairly often in the Sacramento area. They do look great. I do have my panama from Panama Bob. Just put it in the box for the winter. (It was only a chilly 99 in Sacramento today).
