Found this Oberländer fedora in a local thrift shop, and got it at a good price. It looks like it can be quite old, but the felt is in very good shape. Looks almost unused. The sweat band fell off as soon as I got home, the thread just dissolved. Can anyone help me with more information?
I belive this is true for much of Europe. It's the same here in Norway. If you say Stetson or Borsalino, people know what it is (=hats). All other brands are unknown. But, I also think they connect it more to style here, almost like "panama hat". Stetson = cowboy hats, Borsalino = fedora or similar.
I know, I know. Started with wool (mostly Stetson), because that's what were available here, at a reasonable price. Gonna keep a couple, but upgrade one by one.
