Hi Doug,
No, I've never owned a Todd's standard. The only other 'Indy' jacket I own is a Wested soft goat in size 44 Long.
Here's a shot of how that looks in comparison:

Hi Doug, I think the Large would fit you fine, but it could possibly be snug, as in you may not be able to layer it with a sweater or something in colder weather, whereas the XL might be a bit too big, but if you want the loose fitting look, then it would probably be fine.
I initially ordered...
I would probably take that hat to a hatter to fix / re-block and then use the scotchguard to waterproof it after it has been fixed. That way it will last longer in the next rainstorm, and not need re-blocking again for a while :)
Fringe
The last thing I watched was Fringe last night (a new episode for those of us in the UK) - It was the episode where most of the action was set in a kind of anachronistic 1940's / 50's where everyone wore suits and fedoras, and drove old cars (but they also had cell phones and computers)...

The best thing to do is call them or email them and give them your measurements and let...
Thanks Tonyb, i hope the weather stays nice for us when we are in Seattle, but I shall be wearing my FedIV in any case, so hopefuly it will cope with the expected rain that I hear you get a lot of :)
Thanks for mentioning this hat store Tonyb. I shall be in Seattle in September (on my honeymoon - taking an Alaskan glacier cruise departing from Seattle and then spending a couple of extra days in Seattle when we get back, before flying back to the UK, and now we have a hat store to browse in...
FedIV in the rain.
I really want to get my Carbon-Grey FedIV rain-soaked to get it worn-in a bit. I received the hat over three weeks ago and it hasn't rained once! (except at night when i've been asleep or when i've been at work). Yet the week before I received my FedIV it rained practically...
