How to wear a pocket watch?
Anyone have any pictures from the 20's-40's showing how a man with a vested suit wore a pocket watch? I thought that it went from one pocket across the vest to the other, but I'm not sure.

I know it's not big, but here's my tie collection.
The 2 up top that go left to right are actually ones that I got from my grandfather some time ago. The rest are ones that I got over a 3 month period (that's when I started my tie collection) and are 53 inches at longest and 46 1/2 at the...
Thanks again guys :), the only 40's ties I ever saw had geometric shapes with a solid color background (my grandfather wasn't too much into the "picture" ties).

I was looking at these ties, and I like the way they look, I was just wondering, does it really look like they came from the 40's?

How does one tell if a tie is truly vintage? I was looking at a supposed 40's tie at smokydiva's that has no tags, is there a website to help me identify vintage (40's) ties?
Thanks,

I forgot to ask, is there anywhere else that I can go on the net, to get vintage clothing? Alot of the websites I googled, where for t-shirts or skip the 40's for some reason.

Trust me Herringbone Kid, I'd LOVE to. Unfortantly, the furthest back any of the vintange stores around here go is the 50's and only had one vest that wasn't exactly in the best of condition. I've looked at the salvation armies around here too with no luck. I'll just keep looking around...
No, actually grandfather never spoke of vests as to when they came to be "in fashion" in '47. He just referenced them from the '40's and continued to wear them forever. I am, however refering to the late '40's then. It seemed that his (grnadfather's) seemed a little more pointed than the ones...
I was wondering if anyone thinks that any one of these styles of vests are acceptable for a 40's look, I am trying to get as close to the orginal style as possible.

Also, all the adds that I see for the suit/vest combo look like white dress...
I was wondering if anyone could point me to a website, or clothes pattern company that has patterns, color schemes and style of the old 1940's clothing. I want to make this as authenic as possible, so I'm looking at getting as close to the orginal colors as possible.
Thanks in advance...
