If ever you're in Oakland, CA, check out the historically protected Paramount Theater. Along with the Grand Lake and Fox theaters, the architectural gems in Oakland's crown. This place is ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING, my photos do not do it justice! The interior looks like something out of Blade Runner and an Aztec Temple:

Absolutely love that theater. I took my mom there to see a live play there just before she died in 2003. Beautiful theater. A real gem.

I know! Besides music shows, they also do vintage movies from time to time. Saw Chinatown about six months back, freakin' awesome. Reminds me it's high time I checked their schedule again

That theater is calling out for people to be attired as in the Golden Era. Suits, ties, fedoras, gowns is what the setting deserve. Thanks for posting the pictures.

I grew up in Campbell River, BC and in the 1980s a local group decided to save the old Van Isle theatre......it was the '80s...and the old art-deco theatre was brought "up to date" by covering it with pink stucco. The Tidemark is still referred to by locals as the FPB (Funny Pink Building).
