As far as I know Julian made the 1st rendition & Murdock the 2nd. The current version is made in Pennsylvania. If there was a 4th maker I have no idea who it was. Here's links to the 3 I've mentioned:

There's no doubt in my mind that they started out very good with Julian & went downhill from there with each change of maker

My Julian's aren't hard to get on & off, nowhere near for example my John Lofgren's. They are also my favourite boots of those I've had & have. I have to agree that there are better choices for the money than the current Pennsylvania made offering. They look like cheap mall-store fashion apparel. Far nicer looking boots can be had for less money

Just picked up a pair of 7 Inch Chippewas. Personally partial to the shorter boot. So far they're really working out rather well. Comfortable out of the box. Look really good and look like they're well made as well.

I too am a Wesco person. They are tough, will never wear out, good looking and fit me perfectly. Do I want some John Lofgrens and Road Champs? Absolutely but they don't make size 13 yet. Have emailed California multiple times about size 13 and they still don't even answer me. Maybe I should save some Mr Freedom money since they won't even answer my emails? Its tough to be denied but we have our passions. Had a chance on RRL's when they first came out but passed.

Kato good looking Wescos. I love them.

Hi, after hours of informations grabbing on the internet, I finally decided to order a pair of Attractions Lot.444 engineer Boots, in Black Horsebutt, and brass buckles. Now, waiting time is beginning, it will be my christmas gift.
I long hesitated with some Santa Rosa boots, but finally I assumed the shape of the Attractions would be slender, and Atsushi @ Attraction was very eager to giving informations and quickly replied to my questions, very clearly.
I'll try the Santa Rosa next year. By the way do some of you have experience with those Santa Rosa Engineer flat toe, high heel?

Trenchfriend engineers vary in weight depending upon the brand. They can be 10oz vs up to 2-3 pounds for Wescos which are heavy. I love my Wescos and you know everyone has their favorite but they can be heavy.

German motorcycle boots... could be anything between 1930's and 60's. Most likely 50's.
Very similar in design to Luftwaffe pilot boots.

Size marked as 8 1/2 - 9... old German system is same as British.
Would be today EU 42.5 - 43.

Too small for me unfortunately.

I ordered a pair of black/brown "studded" engineer boots from CLINCH BRASS, of Japan, in December 2015, and they just finished making them, so they're in the mail...I'll be sure to post pics once I have them in hand.
