giving this Stetson New York a test run with a crease that is out of my comfort zone
but like I tell all my students... the best way to not move forward is not stepping out of your comfort zone

MM – Oh my God. I teach at a Jesuit school, and when kids peeved me in my English class, I would make them write about, oh, say, “the up and down life of a thermometer”, or two pages on silence without the letter “S”. Generations of teacher haters perpetuated through inane essays. I’m glad to be standing on the shoulders of giants (and to be teaching theatre and film)! By the way, love that “Polar”.

I’m wearing my new to me Caxton. It says “Beaver Quality” and it is. I’m keeping this one.

Beautiful Caxton.

At least your student torture methods had a kind of philosophical bent to them (or can be interpreted that way by a diseased mind like mine). Father (I've been racking my brain to remember his name)'s stuff was just awful, mind-numbing hell.

Wrong thread, but it seems apropos:

I like that crease! It really shows off the softness of the felt. I'm going out to buy a box of wooden matches today. So I can emulate my Hat Hero! I only have one daughter, so one match!

With my "hat for ship and shore" from a pattern on Ruby Carnahan's book "How to make hats", a very simple hat to sew and packs flat. Not very comfy to wear because every time I looked down today the hat fell off of my head, a bobby pin is required I suspect! (more info, and pattern on this link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/63536356@N00/albums/72157603928151597)

Morning spent in the extreme periphery to seek some products for the storage of paintings.
In the end I lost the whole morning

Today only in the hottest hours, few and little hot, I took a walk with this Panizza
11gk4cm.jpg

It is the Italian interpretation of Australian hat, in fact, the model is called Kangaroo
5d47kw.jpg

Felt is very nice and soft, the inside unlined.
The proportions tend to be inspired by "outback" hats

This Panizza is very comfortable and the toll to Australian models, here in vogue twenty years ago or more

Have a nice Friday!
Thanks a lot for the likes on the Barbisio from the 70'

Daniele (maybe... wasn't absolutely certain from his post).

So... 6 or 7. Well above the (supposedly) 12% average for the population of "normal" folks who don't have the hat "problem".

Hmmm... how peculiar...

Likewise sinister here.

Nice Caxton, how about some detail shots (liner and such) It would be good reference material for this brand of hat. Early 50s? Older?

Red - I'm thinking late 40's. It has some beaver I assume (beaver quality) and it is $10 so that's the right time. There's no OPS tag so that would keep it in the 40's. The brim is 2 3/4 inches with a 1/2 inch grosgrain binding and those were 40's dimensions. The nearly 2 inch reeded sweat also seems to be 40's as well. Would love to hear from others

Thanks, this is a real show piece! Impressed with the overall look and vintage vibe of this hat.
