Need Advice - The Elephant In My Closet

Trying to decide whether I should sell this Vanson Model B.

Bought it last summer and it fits OK, but not the athletic fit of my Vanson Comet. So I've just left it, tags and all, hanging in the closet. I've decided that I really want to get the Vanson Thunderbird (I have an old Schott Perfecto that I love) but every time I go into my closet I see it and have to try it on again. Then I wonder if I should just keep it because a) it is a solid leather jacket and b) it's already here.

Since the Comet doesn't have "footballs" under the arms I rarely wear it on the bike; it's casual wear only. However I've worn it for short rides to dinner if I want to be reasonably well dressed.

The Model B has the footballs, and after a one-season break-in period, it would be a solid on-the-bike jacket. It just doesn't have the tight, "rocker" feel that the Comet has. Still, every time I go into the closet, there it is. Too much jacket to just be hanging around.

Wondering if anyone else ever had such an elephant in their closet? And if so, how did they resolve it?

I've sold most of my leather jackets but have had dozens of leather jackets over 30 years that have been elephants - in as much as I was ambivalent about them, how they looked and whether I needed them. Common phenomenon.

I've bought a lot of dumb stuff over the years; It might be cool in the store, but its got to be right at home. I've sold pretty much everyone of my elephants. Some were probably fixable with alterations, but that's always a gamble to get done.

Some of them do grow on you though. My Roadster feels too big on me, and looks bigger than what I normally wear, but I can wear it over any sweater I own. Something to be said for some utility over fashion.

If not 100% happy I move things on these days! No room at the Inn for 'Wardrobe Queens' :)

TBH after clearing out the 'Queens' on eBay (about 16 jackets) I re-invested the cash & have been pleased with the result on the few ' informed from experience' purchases made that spend regular time on my back...

Thanks for the input, guys. Definitely helps to get other perspectives. This would be a great jacket for that once-a-year event when I'd need a nice leather jacket over a sweater, etc. But that's not what leather jackets are for. And my super power is holding on to obscure motorcycle parts just in case I ever "get one of those bikes again" so it may be time to just let it go to a good home.

Is it customary to offer something for a discount to aficionados on a site like this first before selling on eBay? Never sold anything on this forum, but I do it quite often on the motorcycle forum.
