Is this topper worth it?

I found this opera hat in the local antique shop. I don't know anything about them and wanted to know what you think of it.
The mechanism works well and it somewhat fits. But that's about all I know.

This is a folding top hat, or a collapsible opera hat , unless you specifically need or look for foldable hats for whatever reason (the folding quality was appreciated in times past because you took the hat with you instead of leaving it at the wardrobe and collapsed it to not impede vision while in a theatre at a show or opera) , another possibility is that you need it to travel with or that you are a Magician.

To me a silk (hopefully it is) top hat always looses compared to a hard top hat made of other materials , again, unless you specifically need one on account said characteristics.

This one doesn't look particularly good. A little bit of wear on the edges and $70 isn't exactly cheap .

Top hats are also nice to have but there aren't to many chances to wear them

Thank you for your thoughts. I didn't know if this was worth the price even for the mechanism. I'll pass on it. I do have occasion to wear a top hat a couple of times a year. I just wanted something different.
