How to tell the difference between Repro and Real Vintage

Oh my, it looks like I need to pay a visit to the other Beyond Retro shop! :p

My full 1940 or 50's vintage outfit

Sorry for posting on all the "old" threads, but I love your hat, Paul, and the suit fits you so well!

How to tell the difference between Repro and Real Vintage

There are also 2 Beyond Retro shops in London - I've only been in the one around Soho, but it's quite big :)

    Retro=Frumpy?

Hi girls! I always thought black = elegance/chic! I know I don't "know" you, kamikat, but if that's the color you like, I wouldn't try to change it :) I also have a handful of favourite colors and when I try to wear something in a different shade I feel like I'm not myself and get very...

    Before and After?

Oh my, girls! I had never visited this thread and I'm amazed!! You're all so cute without make up (even though some of you don't seem to think so!). And it's amazing how some of you can "tame" your hair! Bravo :eusa_clap

    Your Favorite Film Costumes

I know this is not "Golden Era", but yesterday I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and I fell in love with this short jumper/high waisted trousers combination: Sorry, couldn't find a better image of it, maybe someone remembers it from the movie? I usually don't like short tops, but I...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

(:offtopic: Thanks for the tip! I'll move to London soon so maybe it'll be easier to find a rotary phone on Ebay UK :) )

    Best doggie names ever

lol Your mother's dog sounds so cute! By the way, you're not supposed to clip your dog's nails too short. If you cut above the pink part of the nail you could nip the little vein in there and it'd bleed - not a serious injury, but the dog wouldn't like it!

    Best doggie names ever

Hm, I hadn't heard of that! My miniature poodle is just 6 months old and he used to be afraid of metal floors, but one day he just decided he wasn't afraid anymore [huh] Maybe your dog has a problem with her nails?

Correspondence - Find a Pen Pal

This thread is such a fantastic idea! I'd love to find a penpal that doesn't mind to find some grammar mistakes in his/her letters, since English is not my first language

    The "Annoying Phrase" Thread

lol When I was living in London I worked as a nanny for a few years and some pregnant mums would refer to their babies as "the bump". I remember getting emails that ended "kisses from me and the bump" [huh]

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Oh my, those look fantastic! I'd love to buy an old fashioned rotary phone, but they're expensive here. I remember several of my friends having rotary phones when I was a kid (around 20 years ago), but they're not that common anymore- at least not in Spain.

Dressing for the Holiday / Christmas party season

I love tartan fabric - Kitty_Sheridan, that dress is so beautiful! Unfortunately I don't have plans for any big gatherings this year. Christmas will be spent just with my parents and sister (my extended Spanish family is really loud and my boyfriend doesn't speak much Spanish :P) and New...

A thread for the Petite Vintage Lady

I can't do it (no sewing machine and no knowledge, by now) and if I take it somewhere not too expensive they just do it the lazy way >.< I live in a city where customer service is a bit... absent. Can't wait to move! The other option is wait until I go to visit my parents and then...

A thread for the Petite Vintage Lady

I'm also petite: 5'2" (even though I come from a petite women country :P) Lucky me I'm proportioned, but clothes are always too long and too big on the waist and I have to pay to have them re-sized (my mum used to do it but I guess I need to learn to sew now!). The thing I hate the most is...

    Tips for Single Ladies (1938)

I love the "don't sit in awkward positions". I'd recommend it overall to girls wearing a dress that is too short...
