Did anyone menage to soften the felt of Akubra Federation?
I have a gray Federation that looks really good but I always feel it more like a prop then like a peace of clothing. Did someone turn the felt into something soft enough to roll up. I have another hat that is much cheaper but the felt...
I am thinking about reblocking my hat. It is a rabbit felt fedora. I bought it two years ago and back then it was too tapered for my taste (and I believe for your's too). After too years of molesting it I decided that it is time for a professional help. To give you the idea of what I want to do...
Thanks for the suggestion of that lamp method. I tried it and it worked. It was too big even with the foam peaces and now after a couple of sessions it fits snugly. I still have those foam peaces in but they will probably be taken out as the time passes. The hat now fells like something I can...
I bought a gray Akubra Federation some six months ago. But I did not wear it much since.
My head is size 60 so I ordered size 60. It turned out to big tooooo big. When I putted those foam peaces that come with the hat it made it wearable. But it still looks waaaaaay to big for my head.
People...
What about when saying goodbye. Not that goodbye-for-good, just we-will-see-each-other-later-goodbye.
In that moment I just do not care about the hat. In my case the hat stays on.
What was the hat etiquette on this subject back in the days when hats were common?
If you kiss a girl (woman) on the street do you take your hat off first?
Are there such cards? I was thinking about that actualy some time ago. Maybe Fedora Lounge could make some official cards and send them to it's members. Then these members would have the task of giving them to all the people which could posibly start wearing fur felt fedoras.
Imagine this. You...
Bow is traditionaly on the left side of the hat. Why?
Is it some kind of statement; like men wear it on the left side and women on the right or something like that?
When did this start?
I do not think we even have a name for fedoras in Serbia. We just call them hats.
Another interesting thing: name we use for top hats is cylinder and the name for bowler is semi cylinder. Are these names ever used for hats in english language.
I never did this but it might just work.
Take a peice of paper. Cut it so it fits perfectly around the inside of the hat (sweatband). Mark on that peice of paper where do those gaps start and where they finish.
Then take some sticky tape. The width of the tape shall be the width of your final...
How do I know weather I am a long oval, oval or what ever there is.
I am a size 60 (7 1/2) but when I put on my hat (size 60) I can feel that there are small gaps on the sides. They dissapear when I pull my hat tightly on my head.
Is there some way of measuring what kind of head a person has?
Reverse taper, no taper or taper. What is your choise?
I personaly love how hat with the reverse taper looks from the profile. But I am not always such a big fan of center creases.
What school did you go to?
First of all circumfrence is 2*pi*r or pi*d that means that in this case c=62.83 cm.
Second 31.4156 is only about 12 inches.
If c=62.83 that is I think eather 7 3/4 or 7 7/8.
Are shoes for women the equivalent to hats for men.
I saw a show in wich women talk about shoes. The tone of the conversation was familiar to me. Then I remembered. Fedora lounge. The same apritiation and affection.
What do you think?
There is a short movie on Discovery about Leonardo Da Vinci. It shows a man on a field doing some experiment with a mirror. I guess that it is supposed to be Leonardo Da Vinci. The man in the movie wears a brown fedora. Is that possible? Were there fedoras in his time?
