Hats for men <=> Shoes for women

Are shoes for women the equivalent to hats for men.
I saw a show in wich women talk about shoes. The tone of the conversation was familiar to me. Then I remembered. Fedora lounge. The same apritiation and affection.
What do you think?

Shoes for women are the equivalent of vintage '30s ties for me.

I suspect that mostly women tend to notice what shoes other women wear. With hats, people of both sexes notice, simply because you hardly ever see a man wearing one.
