This theatre (owned by a friend of mine) celebrates 75 years of showing films this August. The theatres new web site is worth a look. The historical pictures of the vehicles lining the street are great.

I am on a mailing list for news dedicated to events, etc. on Palomar Mountain in SoCal. Todays mail brought this item:

As a former resident of San Diego County, "The Mountain" was very special to me. I miss it.
My friends, John Morgan and William Stromberg, have been dedicated to preserving the film scores of the past and their TRIBUTE recordings are excellent. If you are a fan of film scores, give this a look.

I read this on a schedule of upcoming shows on PBS. If you remember them, you're as old as I am!
Before television and MTV, there were "soundies." First
appearing in 1941, these three-minute black-and-white films
featured big band, jazz and swing-era artists. Viewed for a

Tomorrow my wife and I will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary.
We were married in Las Vegas at The Little White Chapel on November

were entertained by Nat King Cole, singing all of our favorites. This picture

I don't know if this has been posted before, but it's worth another look even if it has. I remember all of these shows like I saw them yesterday. Ah, memories.

That's the title of an article in the October issue of Smithsonian Magazine. It chronicles the crash landing of a B-29 in Lake Mead in Nevada. It was entombed in its' watery grave back in July,'48 while on a top-secret mission to test a guidance system. They are preparing the site for divers who...
Here is a photo that I just found of my Mother, Father and my paternal Grandmother taken sometime in the early '30s. He looks like a Mafioso!
Taken in Omaha, Nebraska.
I'm sure that some of you fine folks have been in the service of our country. I thought that it would be nice to see you "in uniform" (no re-enactments, please). I'll start the ball rolling with this one of me at Camp Pendleton, California, back in '57. For you gun enthusiasts, the weapon is a...

A few years back I had the pleasure of working on the Jim Carrey film directed by Frank Darabont. I was amazed by the attention to detail shown by the costumers. The suit I wore was from a men's shop in Washington, D.C. and was made in 1948! The shirt and tie were also vintage. Just dressing in...
I've worn a plethora of hats in my life and as the years have progressed I wear them more than ever. Hair loss, you know. Anyway, here is a picture of one I wore back in the '50s. Now that's RETRO!
